Pressure washers are very effective cleaning equipments that allow you to be productive cleaning-wise. Using a pressure is very intuitive and very straightforward as all you need to do is turn on the unit, point the wand and gun to where you want to clean, and press the trigger to release the pressurized stream of water. Although this is how you basically use your pressure washer unit, there is a finer technique you can use which also involves some safety precaution.
Before you begin using your pressure washer, the first thing you will need to do is connect the unit on an outdoor faucet, then you will need to attach the pressure washer hose, gun, wand, and appropriate nozzle for the cleaning task. Once you have accomplished that you can now start the motor.
Before you start pressure washing, it is highly recommended that you wear safety goggles to prevent any water and debris from entering your eyes. When ready, try and start practicing at a lower area first while holding the gun with one hand and the wand with the other. Try spraying the area side to side at a steady rhythm. Make sure to stay clear off any electrical devices, outlets, and other breakable objects.
When pressure washing, it is important that you are aware of how much power your unit can generate as too much power will have the capacity to strip off paint. It is also suggested not to hold the stream of water at one spot for too long or too close as the power generated by the unit will inevitably ruin the paint or wood.
Always make sure to direct the stream of water away from any windows, or if not, you should hold the wand at an angle so the water does not seep into any joints or gaps. If any water managed to seep inside, make sure to dry them as soon as possible to avoid any water stains.
When pressure washing elevated areas, it advisable not to use ladders as the recoil from the unit can make you lose balance, falloff, and injure yourself. To reach high areas, you need to invest in a telescoping wand which is capable of extending up to 24 feet, thereby allowing you to reach even the roof of a two storey house. This accessory not only keeps both your feet firmly planted on the floor, but it also protects you from the risk of falling from a ladder. Once you have this accessory and are ready to pressure wash, make sure to start from the top going down. This will prevent dirty water from trickling down to an already cleaned area.
